Romper Stomper 1992
Directed by: Geoffrey Wright
Starring: Russell Crowe, Daniel Pollock, and Jacqueline McKenzie

Romper Stomper is a romping stomping caper that gives us a glimpse into the thoughts and actions forgotten youth of Australia in 1992. This is a tale of an over-the-top clan of skinheads bent on domination and destruction who have recently become alarmed as to how their neighborhood is changing, Led by Hando (Russell Crowe) who is known for his rash decisions and violent temper. They live life on the top, until a rash attack on a couple of Asian teenagers and Hando’s very sudden lust to an ex-junkie named Gabe (Jacqueline McKenzie). Hando’s pack of ‘supporting actors’ do well in their portrayal of ‘racist-hate’ and the plot line (although slow in the middle) unfolds almost perfectly and allows us the small details that we need to become attached with the film. A definite recommendation to anyone who enjoys a little controversial movie time.
