Attention New Jersey Movie Geeks
There are a few cool things coming to local Bergen County theaters.
Last week I saw that Cedar Lane Cinema in Teaneck is presenting a special event on Monday, October 29th at 8:00pm. They are showing the original 1925 silent version of The Phantom of the Opera, complete with a live organist. It's a cool opportunity to see a silent classic the way it was meant to be seen. I only saw this on their marquee outside the theater, so if you plan on going, I would call to confirm the date and time first: 201-836-3210 (during theater hours).
And they are currently showing the 1977 film, Killer of Sheep.
Then, from November 2 - 4, they will be hosting The 2007 Teaneck International Film Festival. It includes screenings of Deepa Mehta's Water, Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries, and a number of other films from around the world. The series kicks off on Friday, November 2nd with a Q&A with writer/director John Sayles followed by a screening of his latest film Honeydripper.
Also, beginning Friday, October 19th, The Rialto Theater in Ridgefield Park will be showing the new Ang Lee film, Lust, Caution.
